Crater Lake National Park

Welcome to Oregon!

Oregon gave us a weird welcome! First off, right when we crossed into Oregon from California it immediately started raining, hard. Then after a while, the rain let up and we were on these back roads and we see a golden doodle puppy on the side of the road. So we pull over and Ryker gets out to see if he has a collar on, and the puppy runs straight to him and starts trying to jump into his lap and lick him. So we bring him into the van and see he doesn’t have a collar so we start driving down to find the nearest house to ask if he belongs to them or if they know who he belongs to. The lady at the first house says he isn’t hers but she can take him in the check with the neighbors and bring him in to see if he’s microchipped. After that we were back on track to Crater Lake.

After that eventful seven hour drive day, we finally made it. We stopped off at our campsite for the night, made some dinner and then headed off to bed.

The next morning, we started out with the Phantom Ship lookout, then did a little hike to the top of Plaikni Falls.

After our hike we decided to check out a few more lookouts to see different sides of Wizards Island. We went to the Pinnacles, Discovery Point, and Watchman's Overlook before heading out of the park in search of more gas.

After almost an hour of driving to find gas, we finally found some in the town of Glide, just three hours away from Portland. So withit still being pretty early in the day we had a choice, drive back two hours to our campsite and then take a five hour drive to Portland the next morning, or drive three hours now and wake up in Portland tomorrow.

We decided to just keep driving. After a stop for dinner at McDonalds and a shower at a Planet Fitness, we came to our park stop in Portland at about 11 pm and went to sleep for the night.
