Coeur d’Alene / Helena / Bozeman

Oh, what long drives we have ahead.

We started our drive from Seattle at 6:15am to head towards Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on our way to Helena, Montana. It’s our longest drive of the whole trip, 9.5 hours, so we’re hopping that splitting it up will make it easier.

After about 5 hours on the road we made it to Coeur d’Alene. We parked at a park downtown and decided to get out and walk around a bit to stretch our legs. Honestly we just walked around the park a bit and up and down a few blocks of downtown before hitting the road again.

4.5 hours later and a 1 hour time change, we made it to Helena. We hit up a Planet Fitness and then made out way to a Walmart parking lot for bed that night.

We woke up the next morning to a bit of an engine scare. We had lost a lot of oil and we were leaking coolant. So we found a VW shop in Helena and had them check it out. Thank goodness it was just a loose pipe and no oil leak, the long drive the day before up all the mountains took a lot out of us. So he tightened whatever was loose and sent us on our way. We got some coffee from Starbucks before heading off on an hour and a half drive to Bozeman.

We got into downtown at about 1pm and got some coffee at Treeline and walked though some of the shops for a few hours, one of the stores even gave Ryker a taster of beer for while we looked around. We kinda fell in love with the town. After about 2 hours of walking around we decided to head out to our next destination, Yellowstone National Park! After roughly another hour and a half we made it to our campsite for the night right outside of the north entrance of the park, on top of a mountain with a little town below us. We parked up, made dinner, and planned our next few days out before heading to sleep.
