Boston

More tolls...

We left Pittsburgh at 6:45am for our 10 hour drive to Boston. Boy was that a drive too, so many tolls again. The route we took had us go all the way through Pennsylvania, to New Jersey, to New York, to Connecticut, to Rhode Island, then finally to Massachusetts. The people driving though Jersey and New York were terrible, no turn signals, no courtesy, no manners. Then driving through Connecticut the state highway our GPS was taking us on had low clearance warning bridges, we were able to clear the 9'2" but farther down the highway it said any cars over 8' needed to exit for bridge clearance. So we took the exit, but there were no detours or alternate routes posted and our GPS kept saying to U-turn back onto the highway. So we had to just wander the streets of Connecticut until our GPS could find a new way. It did eventually but then added an extra two hours to our drive... So after now 12 hours of driving we got into Boston, and it was a storm starting... So it was super rainey and windy everywhere, but we got to a Planet Fitness to shower then went to park up. The first place we tried to park was completely full so we had to find a new place, so we went by the beach. That spot was fine until the wind and rain started picking up and hurling sand ad the car and shaking everything, it was so loud and intense that after 4 hours of sitting there and maybe an hour of actual sleep, we went to find a new spot at 2:30am. Again the first spot was no way to get into it so we resorted to residential camping, which is never ideal. But the building drowned out the sound of the wind and the rain calmed down so we were finally able to sleep.

(Countdown T minus 9 days until we are in Raleigh)

Only day in Boston

We woke up early to get out of the residential area before to many people woke up. Then it was a drive into the city for coffee at George Howell. It was good and the space was really cool. It was inside the Boston Public Market so we got to see all the other shops too. From there we decided to kill a few hours by walking the Freedom Trail, it took us all throughout the city and to 16 historical sights, like Bunker hill, the site of the Boston Massacre and Paul Revere's house. It was pretty cool. After the trail walk we stopped by a Target to grocery shop and make some lunch before it started raining to badly again.

We stopped by a gas station to fill up our gas and tires and we had to fix a wire issue in the engine before taking off again. Some lights on the dash kept tripping and screaming, but we fixed it and then we were off to find a camp spot for the night before heading out to New York the next day.
